Thanks to a recent World Connect grant, Chinameca, a large municipality of Spanish-speaking Salvadorans with mixed racial descent is busy planning a two-day Youth Festival for youngsters of all ages. The festival will focus on sporting competitions, such as soccer, basketball, roller-skating, skateboarding, biking, 5K running race, and special sporting events for the kindergarteners. And also the arts by including live rock and folk bands, an artisanal craft sale, and a natural jewelry-making workshop. Through the planning, organizing, and execution of the festival, students will exercise skills in planning, organizing, implementing and more. They will ultimately decide the schedule of events.
