A New “Hot Spot” in San Cristobal

Infante Sano recently shipped an estimated value of $700,000 in medical supplies and equipment to our partner Juan Pablo Pina Hospital in San Cristobal, DR. This shipment contained a full shipping container of critical equipment to refurbish the Maternity, Labor & Delivery and Newborn wards and another full container of much needed general equipment for the hospital, all for an investment of $25,000. The staff at Juan Pablo Pina have been setting up their new equipment and putting it to good use. Here is a photo of one of the warmest, safest and happiest patients yet!

Infante Sano's Executive Director Sarah Henry will be interviewed on this Sunday's edition of Centro on WBZ Boston. Tune in to catch Sarah's conversation with the show's host Yadires Nova-Salcedo and to learn more about our work in the Dominican Republic to improve the health and wellbeing of women, newborns and children. Centro is a weekly program that focuses on issues important to the Latino community. We are so thankful to Yadires for sharing Infante Sano with her audience!

Looking Ahead: New Site Development

At Infante Sano, our goal is to improve the health and well-being of as many women, newborns and children as we can. We are looking to expand our proven approach in the Dominican Republic by partnering with more hospital and clinic sites into 2010. We are currently conducting site visits and meeting with staff at additional hospitals in Health Region I in order to strengthen services in the area. Here are some photos from a recent site visit to Hospital Fundacion, one of our potential new partners!

Our Favorite Yogi Patty Henry

Our Supporter Spotlight for July is on Patty Henry - a yoga teacher, events director, outdoorswoman and mommy from Colorado. Patty has set a fundraising goal of $5,000 and is donating 100% of the profits from the yoga classes she teaches to Infante Sano.
