Are you looking to become involved in a meaningful, hands-on experience? To expand student’s learning outside of the classroom? To add a service learning component to your curriculum?
World Connect makes it simple. Students choose a project to support and then coordinate with World Connect staff to explore these interest areas in unique and creative ways. In the process, students develop a greater understanding of geography, languages, culture and socio-economic issues, as well as a deep appreciation for core philanthropic principles.
In short, our goal is to give students an opportunity to peak behind the curtain and learn what it takes to do good, sustainable development by connecting directly with one of our projects around the world. Fundraising is a major component, but we also expose students to the whole project design. The students will be instructed on how to review grant applications and given a few to tackle, as well as learn how grants are written and how budgets are drafted.
The program is very flexible, allowing for schools to go at their own pace. Since each school operates differently, Kids Connect can be implemented in various ways. It can be a school-wide initiative, an afterschool club, or weaved into a particular classroom’s curriculum.
The students choose which project they want to support based on either an issue they want to focus on (health, education, economic opportunities, or the environment), or based on geographic region (Africa, Latin America, or Asia). Students have the creative power to design what type of fundraiser they want to hold.
