As part of our upcoming Kids to Kids grant cycle in December of this year, World Connect will begin supporting arts, sports, education and environmental projects for kids in two new countries!!

Kenya: Kenya is a large country located on the eastern coast of Africa. It’s bordered by Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan to the north, Uganda to the west and Tanzania to the south. While Kenya has a growing economy it remains an extremely impoverished country. 40% of Kenyans live on less than $2 per day. Of Kenya’s 39 million people, a whopping 42% are under the age of 15 - that’s over 16 million young kids and teens! While primary education is free for kids in Kenya, many cannot afford to continue school beyond the primary level.  HIV/AIDS is also an important problem to address with youth in Kenya. We are excited to extend our Kids to Kids program to Kenya and hope you'll join us in sponsoring as many projects as we can!!!

Senegal: Senegal is a small, French-speaking country located on the western coast of Africa. 60% of the population lives on less than $2 per day. More than 58% of the population is illiterate, making creative education projects sponsored by Kids to Kids very important for youth. Senegal is also a country of great but threatened environmental diversity, making the training of future environmental leaders and protectors through Kids to Kids an important priority as well.

With the addition of Kenya and Senegal, the Kids to Kids program will soon be creating opportunities for kids in 12 countries. Check out our Where We Work map and get involved! There are many things that you can do. First, become a Kids to Kids member and start raising awareness about how kids can and do change the world.

We are excited to work with Peace Corps Volunteers, Kenyan and Senegalese community leaders and Kids to Kids Members to provide meaningful opportunities for kids in Kenya and Senegal to discover their passions, embrace their creativity, protect the environment, reach their full potential and to be kids!
