The market women of Twihangirumurimo Cooperative, alongside Jerome Ndayambaje, have witnessed households making less than $1/day struggle to attain food during the country-wide COVID-19 lockdown. These three-time World Connect project partners are leaning on their robust network in Muranda Sector in Rwanda to respond to their community’s economic needs. With this World Connect grant, 300 of the most economically disadvantaged people in the sector will receive food supplies to meet their basic needs. Volunteers from the University of Rwanda’s Medical College will partner with local health workers to provide public awareness on COVID-19 preventative measures. The project will also distribute 120 handwashing stations to every store carrying out essential services in Muranda Sector’s markets and business centers.
