In Los Blancos, a small town along the southwest coast of the Dominican Republic, roughly 150 homes lacked proper sanitation. Families were at risk of disease, worms and parasites. Take one enterprising Peace Corps volunteer, one dedicated community leader. a grant from World Connect and a community’s dedication to helping themselves and things start to happen. The community, mostly women with small children who agreed to contribute 25 percent to the construction, organized and first planned together and then began to dig. Overall, the sanitary conditions in 50 homes were improved, hundreds of villagers benefitted.Explore other Projects
