Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $440.45

The Health committee of Canton Cristobal is striving to make El Instituto Nacional Ernesto Flores (INEF) in El Salvador better prepared for emergencies. With support from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2010 and in partnership with the Ministerio de Salud (Ministry of Health) and a Peace Corps Volunteer, the institute gave classes on first aid, emergency preparedness, and health lessons on issues such as hydration and nutrition. Support also covered teaching volleyball to girls, and increasing soccer programming overall, to keep kids healthier and out of trouble. Every student participated in a first aid workshop, community members are more aware of emergency routes and what to do in case of an emergency, and confidence and morale has increased as a result of the new sports programming. Program leaders hope that students from the school take their new knowledge and skills back to their homes to share with their families.Explore other Projects
