Year: 2023
Country: Rwanda
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Economic Opportunity
Project Investment: $6,543.97

Project Launch: 12-22-23

Mpore Dukundinzuki beekeeping  cooperative will use a $6,543.97 grant from World Connect to purchase a house which will be used to host the beekeeping activities, including honey harvesting, processing and storage as well as production of other honey products. The members (100% women) are survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis and they come from poor families who have little or no arable land. As a result these problems have led to poverty in their households. To end this, these women came together and formed a beekeeping cooperative which helps them  earn income through production, processing and sale of honey and other hive by-products.The implementation of this project will help them to meet the required quality standards from the government of Rwanda for them to be able to sell their honey and honey products on the formal market, increase their incomes and combat poverty among their families. They will also acquire more knowledge and skills in modern beekeeping and honey production through training that will be funded out of this grant.
