COVID-19 Response in Nigeria

Year: 2020
Country: Nigeria
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $3,438.36

Project Launch: 4-21-20

The REEL Foundation, a community-based organization, initially planned a spelling bee and games competition for 1,100 children across the South West region of Nigeria. Given the reality of COVID-19, the organization has opted to redirect their World Connect grant funds to supply 200 families with essential food and cleaning supplies. This community is showing their adaptability and resilience through this shift in programming.

Final Report:

In under ten days, the REEL Foundation mobilized and distributed food and hand sanitizer to 220 families, 20 more families than they had initially planned to reach. The food items distributed to each family include rice, beans, garri, oil, tomato paste. They distributed packages to families with children who attend their E-learning Hub, churches, and mosques. After successfully partnering with religious leaders from different communities, they intend to further collaborate to sensitize communities on COVID-19 prevention and response.
