Project Launch:

The 22 girls in the club meet on a weekly basis and have begun to plan for the mural project. Leaders of the group have noticed an obvious increase in knowledge, self-esteem, and in the desire to be active and play sports. The girls have taken trips to Punta Gorda and had lecturers visit and teach them. The girls are now comfortable to talk , ask questions, and have conversations with everyone who visits the girls club. Girls who used to be shy are now ready to show their wonderful personality’s with their new friends.

The St. Benedict Butterflies have been meeting throughout the summer break to provide girls of Indianville area an opportunity to come together to learn, share, and grow. As we as to encourage responsibility, leadership, and living a healthy active life. Activities that the club participated in include field trips to place around the community, art project, science experiments, environmental activities, and outdoor sports activities.

The Kids to Kids grant money will be used to provide art supplies and other materials for weekly activities, as well as sports equipment for the continuation of the girls club throughout the school year. The grant will also be used by the girls club for a school mural project. The girls will have supplies and materials to do various activities throughout the school year, as well as work together to create a mural at the school. Realizing the importance of giving back to the school and community.
