In 2008, World Connect’s Kids to Kids program awarded $495 to the Stann Creek Chess Association in Belize to support their chess club for students, allowing them to host tournaments and expand their club. The Stann Creek Chess Association believes that chess should be used as an educational and motivational tool and can promote deep thinking, pride in personal achievement, an increase in self esteem and self worth, and team pride. In Belize student participants, Club leaders reported an increase in participant self esteem, team work, concentration, emotion management, leadership, math, and language skills.Explore other Projects
