Project Launch:
“Draw Your Dreams” was a youth art initiative designed to teach the children of Bahoruco (ages 6-15) to open up their imaginations and use their creativity to produce works of art that they never thought were possible. Previously the kids had no outlets to express themselves or use their energy in a positive manner. There are no after school programs, groups for children, or classes during school hours that fill the kids’ time with creative educational options. The group took up drawing, water colors, paper mache, bracelet making, collages, paper airplanes, designing puzzles and greeting cards, and ultimately painted a large mural in the community. This project gave children of the community a stimulating alternative to sitting inside the house watching television and helped the participants understand that learning is much more than math, science, and history. The project even extended these lessons to relatives and friends of the participants who benefitted by learning from the creativity of the youth participants.Explore other Projects
